JMRI - more than Decoder Pro

Java Model Railroad Interface (JMRI) is an open source software suite of tools developed by many talented programmers over the past three decades.

JMRI started out with Decoder Pro which is still a great tool to manage your DCC locomotive roster.  There have been several other tools added to JMRI as fully explained on their website.

I got involved in 2003 when I found the Layout Editor and Panel Editor being developed by Bob Jacobsen and the late Nick Kulp.  They had a preliminary version of a US&S CTC panel able to control turnouts and indicate block detection.

Since then, we have been able to add signal levers, signal logic and much more.  This website shares how we are using JMRI on the Quaker Valley Railroad.

One of my most recent JMRI projects is to enable Ken McCorry’s SD45 loco simulator to actually control a HO scale train on his 3400 square foot model railroad.  Check out the full size simulator and 8 foot high screen.
